Ezine Ad Co-ops: Two Tips For Ezine Publishers

by Adrian Jock, © 2003

What is an ezine ad co-op? A program which unites advertisers, ezine publishers and the owner of the program.

Usually, the ezine publisher receives a new subscriber under one condition: that subscriber's ezine ad will be published.

1. Contact Immediately the New Subscribers!

What is a new subscriber sent by an ezine ad co-op? A person who just opened his wallet to purchase ezine advertising. Are you interested to sell advertising in your ezine? Then don't wait the advertiser to close his wallet ... Capture his attention! If you will not do it ... every time there will be another publisher to do it instead of you.

Always remember the following simple rule: if there is one single buyer and more sellers (a new subscriber is sent in the same time to many ezine publishers), you have to fight if you want to sell. You can afford to lose the time only when you're the sole seller, but this is not our case.

I noticed some publishers who wait many days before contacting a new subscriber. It's like making donations to his fellow publishers. If you're rich, then you can afford to make donations. But if you're an ezine publisher, then you're not rich ...

2. Request Her/His Confirmation Before Adding A New Subscriber To Your Ezine's List

Surprise? That person agreed to subscribe to your ezine when purchased the ad from the ad co-op, then why to do it?

Unfortunately, as every human invention, the ezine ad co-ops are not perfect and have also disadvantages.

Some new "subscribers" will never read your messages (especially if you don't hurry to contact them) mainly because they will become overloaded with information from other publishers.

Some new "subscribers" will never read your messages because they never intend to! They agreed to subscribe to the ezines only because this was an easy way of obtaining cheaper advertising.

The confirmation may be a first filter for such "subscribers".

What do you need? Readers or figures to be proud of? So what if you will have 100,000 subscribers when 90% won't read your ezine?

Conduct such a test during one single week such and you will be surprised how many new "subscribers" do not read your message even if the subject is "Your Confirmation Is Required"!

Please don't understand this ezine article in a wrong way. This article is not against ad co-ops. I'm an ezine ad co-op owner after all ...
